Tonight, Armenia will choose its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon. Ten songs are still in the running to win Depi Evratesil 2018. I don’t really like any of the song from the national final this year. There are a lot of songs that would be quite suitable for Eurovision, but I just don’t like them. So here are three songs that aren’t particularly my favourites, but definitely stood out for me:

Kamil Show with Puerto Rico

This song seems to be quite popular with the fans, and I have to say that I get why. It’s very funny and silly. But I really thought that the Eurovision Song Contest had left this behind them. What actually bothers me the most is that the drag queen is hardly singing, but takes all the credit for the song. The backing vocals have great voices and should have done something as a group without the drag queen. I know that this isn’t meant to be serious, but I just wish they hadn’t done this because I actually like the song. 5/10

Sevak Khanagyan with Qami

I think that this song is the best choice for Armenia, since it kind of suits the country. The vocals are good as well. The problem will be staging with this song. He really needs something memorable to make it through to the final. I’m not blown away by the song yet, but I hope there will be some improvements tonight or eventually in Lisbon. 5/10

Gevorg Harutyunyan with Stand Up

I actually quite like this song and the vibe of it. But this song has one massive problem: English. This song would have been ten times better in Armenian. I think it’s mainly because of his pronunciation and the cheap English lyrics that people don’t really like this song. The sounds are so Armenian and etnic and then the English lyrics, that doesn’t make any sense to me. 5/10
